I chose Subs over Meth for maintenance based on some research, I had tried street methadone to self medicate and I have a really cool Doctor who recommended the subs over meth.
I am not to sure how much I should get into here in the intro section except to say I am coming off of a 12 year habit and it feels pretty fucking good to have a whole lot change in a fractiion of that time after starting the sub program.
I'm not kidding myself, I've miles to go before all is well...if I can ever truly say that....but so far so good. Two months and the only thing I take is Suboxone as far as opiates/opioids are concerned. I don't drink to much, laid off the weed, don't do cocaine or benzos but I do smoke which I am going to work on as well...some new pill that works brilliantly...so we will see.
Anywho....I've admired Dr. Junig for a while with his Youtubin and this site. I can appreciate that he has been on both sides of the desk (addict and suboxdoc) which gets him a lot of respect for his opinions in my book. And so I say hello to you all and play safe or stay strong depending on where you are in your day.

Welcome Cheshire, we're so glad you joined the forum. I hope you find as much support in your recovery as I have. This place is full of supportive, empathetic, intelligent, and informed people.
Thanks for sharing some of your story. Feel free to write as much as you feel comfortable doing. I'm so glad to hear the sub is working for you. You're so right in that we all have more to do than to just put a pill under our tongue in terms of full recovery from this horrible addiction. Again, Welcome, I hope you stick around and keep posting!

Lol well first of all I really appreciate the laugh, your subject title was hillarious :)
Anywho we're all glad to have you with us here. I'm so happy for you I remember when I first started Suboxone and it was so incredible to not be constantly worrying about who I was going to steal from or how I could con someone out of their money so that I wouldn't get sick not to mention how great it was to wake up and be able to get out of bed in the mornings without having to take something! Staying clean still takes some work but for me at least after starting Sub maintenance things are soooo much easier.

Glad you're here and I hope to hear more of your story soon. If you need anything don't be afraid to let me or any of the other moderators know.
Take care,
Matt

Hello Cheshire!

Congrats on your new found sobriety. The first couple months...are awesome and for that matter, it just keeps getting better from there in my experience. Glad to have you on the forum and I appreciate you posting with an introduction. I hope you stick around.

Cherie
