Hey everybody, my name is Cara. I'm 28, mom of 2 (4.5 y/o girl, 3y/o boy). my husband and I separated soon after our son was born. my addiction really started around the same time. I'm addicted to hydrocodone and oxycodone. I'd take up to 150 mgs a day if I have them. My doctor prescribed me Suboxone last week, my pharmacy just got the RX filled last night so I am hoping my Dr. can work me in tomorrow for the induction. I'm nervous, but hopeful.. the reviews of Suboxone seem to be pretty good. Basically I just wanted to drop in and say Hi! :)

WELL HI!!!!!!

Merry Christmas!!!

I hope the induction goes well for you.... Usually it's pretty easy on folks going from anything like vicodin or percs, oxy anything like that. it's the heroin or methadone to suboxone that gets hard.

anyways, If I were you, I'd cruise thru the "induction" discussion area and read up on how other people's went.
It's always good to have MORE information than you need.........

Let us know how things go,,,, good luck, I hope suboxone can work as well for YOU as it has for ME.
20 months and going good here.
Can't believe it , honestly.

take care!!

oh and here's a video you might find some useful information in ........

thanks Amber !! Glad to hear it's going well for you!! My doctor wasn't able to work me in today, but they have me in for tomorrow morning :) I'm wondering how everyone felt during their induction and after? I have no idea what to expect really about how I will feel.. my main concern is if I will be able to drive myself home afterwards?

You should be fine to drive home,
some people find themselves a bit sleepy afterwards, ESPECIALY when they start on too high of a dose.

the best advice I can give you is to take the least amount as posible. Obviously the point is to take the w/d symptoms away,
but suboxone is wierd in that ,, if overmedicated, MOST people feel "sick" NOT high,
does that make sense?

so you want to take let's say 4mg and then wait at LEAST an hour,, we've had some people on here, post that they waited an hour and took another 4mg, felt okay and left the office to only feel SICK and pukey, for 24 hours straight.....
that's a sign of too much for your opiate tolerance.

well I hope this helps,
here,,,
check this video out, maybe it will explain a lil better....
if you still have questions, JUST ASK, and I'll try my best to answer them,,, k?

LET US KNOW HOW IT GOES!!!!!!!
I just re-read your first post, and I'd def do a half strip which is 4mg, and wait about an hour and "see" how you feel.
If your still in w/d then MAYBE take more, but wait it out and remember that YOU CAN ALWAYS TAKE A BIT MORE LATER,
and have the dr. adjust your dose,
but it's VERY DIFFICULT to "take less" after you've already taken it!!!!!!
LOL

good luck!!!!!

Good for you! I started my induction on 4mg (just make sure you're in good wd/s before your appointment--sounds awful, and it is, but it's worth it to avoid precipitated w/d, and you'll feel better SOON after). I was taking a LOT more oxy than you, and 4mg ended up being waaaay too much for me. Be cautious, and don't let the doc talk you into more than what you need. After 2-3 days, I was down to 2mg, fully able to parent and work a demanding job. I stabilized at that dose, and tapered off after 4 weeks.

I suggest getting on as low a dose as you can to feel better, but to really stick with the once/daily dose. It really helped me to change my habit of taking meds multiple times a day....not healthy thoughts. Are you hoping to use sub long-term? I know it really works for a lot of people here. If you're thinking of it as a short-term detox, just know that it's TOTALLY doable. Whatever you're thinking, the point is, you're going to feel SO MUCH BETTER in a few days, and you'll be on your way.

Your kids are lucky to have you. Well done, girl!
Jo

First, Thanks everyone for the welcome!
Well today is day 3 for me. Induction went smoothly. I went in, in mild WD , I was worried I was not far enough along into WD but by the time I got checked in, peed in their cup and waited my turn for my doctor I was really starting to feel crummy. so it worked out perfectly. Doc had me take 4mg and within 30 min. or so I was feeling better. she kept me a while longer and then sent me on my way. I felt I was ok to drive so I did (I gave my mom a heads up beforehand that I may be calling her for a ride) and all went well!

so far so good... today I am feeling great... have been working on getting my mess of a house cleaned up and I really feel great. what a difference!
