So a while back i was on suboxone. the first time i picked it up from my pharmacy, they ran my insurance but they denied it. (i was on my parents insurance btw, im a student.)

So i payed for my med. out of pocket. when my parents insurance came time to renew, the company denied covering me.

i guess they saw where i tried to get them to cover the subs and now im a student w/ out insurance. is that legal for the company to drop me like that?

is there anything i could do or should i ask my parents to switch insurance companies?

Wow, Jordan, I'm so sorry to hear that all this happened! I don't know the kind of insurance you had, but what transpired could very well be because they consider your addiction a pre-existing condition. They might be looking at it that when you were first covered you didn't tell them about it. That said, I have no idea if this is true - it's just a possibility.

If I were you I would definitely appeal their denial of your coverage. What do you have to lose? I really hope you can get this worked out very soon. I know how damn expensive having to pay for sub out of pocket can be.

Please keep us posted on what happens. And good luck.
