Hi Folks,

It's been a long time since I posted. It has been a bad year. My son was on sub, but was using all kinds of other drugs on top of it. I had him hospitalized after he took 35mg of Xanex over a 12 hour period on top of his sub. He was taken from the hospital to his second stay at a rehab facility. It seemed like a great program but with no help from insurance, I could only have him there a little over a month. The bill was a staggering $28K!!! They detoxed him off of everything including sub. 5 days out of rehab he relapsed, bugularized the neighbors and is now incarcerated. Thankfully he is still a juvenile, but he will be paying restitution the rest of his life. He stole heirloom jewlery worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. A pawn shop gave him and his accomplice $2K for the whole lot. I'll spare you my tyrade on pawn shops.

Hopefully, he has hit his bottom and he will take recovery seriously. He wants back on sub. Here are my questions. Since he was arrested so soon after detoxing, he did not go through any withdrawal while incarcerated. I guess he hadn't been back to using long enough. He will be incarcerated for about 6 more months. They will not give him sub while incarcerated. He will have been 8 months clean when he gets out. Can he go through sub induction when he is clean?

Second, my son doesn't seem to feel normal emotions. This was not true of him as a child. We think it is due to all the drug use. Will sub interfere with the healing of his brain so that he may one day experience the normal range of emotions?

As always, thanks for your help.

Hello
First off I'm very sorry about what your going through!
Secondly I'm not a doctor but I do believe his brain will
Be able to heal while taking his sub. As long as he's taking it as
Prescribed and isn't taking a bunch of other crap.
I do believe since suboxone isn't a full agonist like heroin, morphine, OxyContin
Etc that his brain will begin to heal when he is stabilized on his sub
And isn't using! I could b wrong just trying to help!
Google it or ask a suboxone doctor. God bless and good luck!
