Hi everyone..

My addiction and the knowledge of it came to a screeching hault on Friday. I was seen by an addictions physician in ER who told me that he thinks I should start suboxone treatment on Monday.

My addiction started off as needed, but in the past 15 mnths I have worked up to anywhere from 90-120 mg of oxy almost daily..especially in the last 6 mnths. Plus Ativan. Every now and then I would take some Percs, but my main culprit was oxy..

I last took oxy on Thursday night. The ER specialist I saw told me I have to be in mild to moderate withdrawal to start subox. So I haven't had any oxy since Thursday night, and have had only Ativan since, and two nights ago I took a few Tylenol 3' just to calm my head storms..(yes I know that is an Opi as well)..

Monday came around and the clinic said they couldnt take me in for a week and a half.. this after self detoxing all weekend.. I panicked...

I found another clinic that will see me tomorrow..

My question is: I have gone through the hell of detox.. starting with vomitting, anxiety, lack of appetite. Diarrhea. I've soaked my bed the last two nights due to sweat. Today I am jittery, anxious, lethargic, and all around achy...

Tomorrow, will I be too far into self detox to start.. or?? My mind is driving me nuts.. keeps telling me to use.. but I haven't. Tonight I have a fam member staying with me just to make sure I don't start this process over...

I just don't understand what mild to moderate withdrawal means.. and am I beyond that, that I won't get treatment??

Thanks for any advice..

Hi kongwildknots,

Welcome to the forum first off! Sounds like the medical staff hasn't been reading the updates on when to induce Suboxone for someone on Oxy. They used to say 3 days, then 2, now it's down to 1.

And yes, tomorrow you will feel much better and all your withdrawal symptoms will disappear. You are way past moderate to mild withdrawals. Just don't use today! I know it will seem like a lifetime, but you've held on this long, hang on a little longer or you'll have to repeat the process.

Somehow you posted this twice so I deleted the other one.

Hang on till tomorrow. It will be worth it.

Did you go? How are you doing?

You don't have to be in the beginning stages of withdrawal to start sub. As long as you are IN withdrawal you can start it.

I hope you figured something out. It's hard to find dr's in my area. And the pill(no heroin in sight around, not any worth a damn at least..) problem is so bad here that all ERs have adopted a "No Opiates Policy". You only get an IV of morphine or a bottle of tabs IF you are admitted with a serious ailment. I have seen people with compound fractures given ibuprofen 800mg and tramadol (if they are lucky). I wish the ERs around here had some tie to suboxone doctors so people could get help!
