Opiates and Chronic Pain I have used suboxone to treat chronic pain in select patients, and it generally works pretty well. There is tolerance, of course, which limits the effectiveness, but tolerance occurs with every opiate. This category is also the right to discuss the use of other opiates for chronic pain.
