I'm pretty sure that you are taking an 8mg Suboxone pill. Each 8mg Suboxone pill contains 2mg of Naloxone. I'm pretty sure my bottles read 8mg/2mg, or something along those lines. The 8mg is Suboxone (buprenorphine), the 2mg is Naloxone.

Hope this helps.

Romeo's right - the pills are 8 mg buprenorphine and 2 mg naloxone.

Is it orange? Is it almost, but not quite the size of a dime? If yes it's 8mg
If it is orange and about the size of a peppercorn it's the 2 mg

This only applies to the six-sided pills. I don't know about other formulations...

is this this a strong dosage ? I have been on the 8mg for four days and I am thinking of cutting this dosage in half . The pill is orange and six sided about the size of a dime so it must be the 8mg .

8 mg is pretty much an average dose, not too low, not too high. It's comfortably above the ceiling so it should keep your opiate receptors saturated. This is how it addresses the cravings. If you drop to 4mg, just be flexible. You should go to 6 or 7 mg first - taper down slowly. And be aware that if your cravings come back (4 mg is at or about the ceiling) that you may need to go back up, perhaps just to 6 mg. For a person on maintenance, it's thought best to stay above the ceiling. If I were you and really needed/wanted to drop from the 8, I'd go to 6 first for awhile.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

rubb, if you don't mind me asking what drug were you on before subs and about how much a day?

The level of the dose is relative to your tolerance.

8mgs felt like a HUGE dose for me, but my tolerance was never that high.

You want to take enough that the withdraws and craving are gone, IMHO, but not anymore than that.
