Hi. It's late here and I'm hoping some people are still up and can share their experience and tell me what their Dr. recommended. So I start my sub on Monday. All my Dr. said was that Sunday is my last day using and Monday evening I am to go to the pharmacy to take my sub...then Tuesday morning I go to the pharmacy for sub again...go to work...and then have an appointment with him at 4:00. I KNOW I should have asked more questions, but I was scared and anxious. How many hours should I wait from the last time I use? Can I use late Sunday night and then get my sub at 6pm the next day? Or should it be a full 24hrs. My doctor wasn't specific enough. I'm scared I'm going to be sick. Thanks for reading! Any advice or shared experiences?

Most of your questions depend on how bad your abuse of opiates is/has been.
Also, WHAT opiate you've been abusing.

If it's a short-term opiate, like lortab, percocet, vicoden...then you could use as late as 3-4pm Sunday, and I would recommend stopping at the VERY least, 16 hours before your first dose of Suboxone. If you take an opiate at 3pm on sunday, and give it 15-20 minutes to work (orally), then you're looking at 4pm. 16 hours would be a moderate withdrawal on short-acting opiates...but that was based on MY metabolism.

Everyone is different, and everyone metabolizes differently. It's hard to say for sure, but I would give no less than 12 hours for Suboxone to NOT cause PWD.

Usually I take oxycontin and oxycodone, but I've only been taking oxycodone for the past week. I'm going to try to do 24 hrs....or maybe take my last couple at 8pm Sunday and go for my sub on Monday at 6pm. Thanks for answering my post

I dont know why everyone is so stuck on an amount of hours after last use before they start Sub.. You need to go by the amount of withdrawal you're in, not the hours.. thats the easiest way to put yourself into PW. YOU NEED TO BE IN MILD TO MODERATE WITHDRAWAL BEFORE STARTING SUB (use the COWS scale) NOT COUNTING HOURS AFTER YOUR LAST USE. You know your body best and im sure you know how long it takes you to start to withdrawal. Good Luck!! I hope everything goes well!!

Look up the COWS scale and go by that. If you go to the NAABT website it will tell you the score on the COWS you should be at before induction. Since time after last dose of a full agonist before inducting can be different for everybody, going by the COWS scale is your safest bet. Steve
