THIS is just my opinion only and I am sure others might disagree. I would stay on the sub...in my situation I plan to be on ct I have proved it...My first doctor gave it to me for a year saying it was a miracle drug, then suddenly wanted me off of it in one month and gave me 30 8mg. too taper. Well i tapered ..sort of... I would get down to 2mg then might have a day I would take 8mg! At the very last basically if I had a crumb which was about 2 mg. i was fine, but i think the last day i took 4mg...so I was basically up and down on the taper....so I just ran out and that was that. I didn't notice many withdrawals..it was so different from other stories I have heard..but I did have cravings and once went and bought 30mg. of hydro...thats when i KNEW I was not ready to be off subutex...I found another doctor who is great and I am doing great and thankfully i didn't pussyfoot around or I would have been bying stuff on the street again in no time. I guess you just have to know yourself inside. You say you don't want to go back to the dope again...that sounds to me like your not ready to taper...I feel people taper too soon , before they get their shit together, then relapse and blame sub??
But everyone is different with differnent needs financial conditions, etc etc etc....this is just my 2 cents....hope it helps.....

I don't know what happened with that post ...I meant to say i plan to stay on it for at least 2-3 years or more. I also know how to spell buying and I feel i came on a little strong..you do what you think you need to do.

About tapering...I will not even worry about that until the time comes. My doc does a real slow liquid taper. I haven't been through a horror taper but even coming off full narcartics I never felt bad over about 4 days to a week...the benzo withdrawal is what scares me...now that is horrible. Good luck to you! Slipper

hold the train there Slipper. I have no intention of getting off the clean train and going back to the street. Anyone can read anything online and get the wrong idea. I thank you for your input, i got my shit together and I plan to keep it together. I went off and on there for a while with the fentanyl and I do not want to go back to that neighborhood. I am going to be on it for a while i know and that I have no prob with, but i just wanted to know when the time comes its better to ask here and get help first hand from other experiences than just well we will see what happens. I tried doing cold turkey with the fentanyl with the well we will see what happens attitude and yeah that was the biggest pile of shit i stepped in. Anyway I thank you for your input and hope we can assist eachother in the future for ideas as well as support....but as for now I am staying on the sub cause the street is no place to be especially on the corner of hopelessness and opiate boulevard.... by the way my stabilization for the suboxone is 6mgs i can not believe that that is pretty low from what the doctor said but anyway thanks for the input

Hey tired,

Getting off of Suboxone can be very difficult, but if you're willing to taper, like you indicated, you will skip the acute portion of wd's and the worst of the PAWS too.

For those of us who jumped at higher doses, it's like rolling the dice.....some of us take it up the rear while others don't have too much trouble.

It's my opinion that as long as you're able to taper yourself off of Suboxone, you will GREATLY minimize any wd.
