I had lots of questions before I did my suboxone induction too and I'd be happy to answer any questions I could. :) Ask away!

Well, I wish you lots of luck with your induction! Starting suboxone was a real turning point for me. I had a oxycodone habit of between 100mg-140mg/day. I was getting my prescription from a pain specialist, but I was definitely running out early every month! I felt incredibly stuck and increasingly desperate. I had been working on prerequisites for nursing school, but became stalled because of my addiction. Finally, in September 2011 I broke down and called my friend for help. I ended up finding out about suboxone and I started on October 24, 2011.

My doctor had me withdraw from opiates for 48 hours before my induction. I have since found out that waiting that long before induction is a bit unusual, but I totally appreciate my experience. I was feeling pretty terrible when I went to the doctor's office that morning, but I walked out feeling on top of the world in a state of near normalcy!

Now that I've been tapering, I've experienced different doses of sub. I think that 16 mg was too much for me and that 6 - 8 mg was perfect for maintenance. I am at 2 mg now. I want to try to maintain my sobriety without sub to see if I can do it. I've had a pretty good experience on sub, however, and I won't mind if I have to go back on it.

So that's my story in a nutshell. :) I hope your induction goes well and that your recovery is successful!

Amy

Amy, thanks for sharing that...I read a lot of stuff on here..I have had a massive heroin habit as well as pill habit..but people seem to think that getting on suboxone for "just a pill habit" i silly...I feel sorry for those that read those types of posts and are discouraged from getting the help they need because someone else thinks it's excessive..I however ignore the opinions because I have been addicted to both...an opiate is an opiate and whether you are banging 12 grams of heroin or eating 40 pills a day your chemicals are thrown off...anyway rant over thanks for being encouraging about it and sharing your story..i'm nervous but I am ready to have a normal life again..I know I keep saying thank you over and over haha but thanks
