So, I've been taking suboxone for about 3 months.. I've successfully tapered down on my own to .75-1 mg daily, & have also skipped days here & there. I will have a drug test coming up on Thursday.. I've read so many mixed answers about this. I understand the half life of bupe but If I took .75 this morning, what are the chances that it will be detectable in my system on Thursday. It's going to be hard enough to sustain from use but not knowing whether I will test positive or negative is driving me nuts. I'm not sure if my test will be blood or urine, does that make a difference? From what I've read, chances are it will still be in my system but I've also read that for some it hasn't been. So if anyone has any experience they can share, maybe that will help. I'm not going to know until I actually go through with the test but some sort of peace of mind might help. Thank you!

I'm sorry, but it will probably be there. I would suspect they would do a urine test, since urine tests are much more sensitive (because substances are concentrated when urine is produced). Understand that while 1 mg seems like a small dose, it is a large dose of buprenorphine-- which is used in microgram doses for pain treatment. So 1 mg is equal to 1000 micrograms.... and it takes a long time for bupe to leave the body.

Are you under treatment by a doc? If so, a positive shouldn't be an issue. If not, you may luck out, because some employers don't test for buprenorphine (it will not show up in a test for heroin).

It will help if your urine is a little on the dilute side. If it is TOO dilute, they will suspect you are hiding something..... but keep yourself well-hydrated, and that will reduce the amount of the chemical in your urine.

Good luck!
