If you haven't read my last couple posts, please check them out. Since the NYT story there have been a number of stories in newspapers across the country, pointing out the 'diversion problem.' One statistic never mentioned is that while 400 deaths have been linked to buprenorphine products over the past 10 years, there have been over 30,000 overdose deaths EACH year from all substances. Acetaminophen kills about 400 people each year-- the number of deaths linked to buprenorphine in 10 years.

Many articles now have comment sections. Please consider sharing the truth about buprenorphine. You can often register for the site with an email (that can be anonymous through gmail), or if you set up an anonymous twitter account, most web magazines allow comments after logging in with twitter.

If you're not sure what to say, consider posting a link to my article about a deeper understanding of buprenorphine diversion: ... rstanding/

Your efforts will help. There is a great deal of misinformation tossed around, and as my next post will describe, being silent will come with a significant cost, as states create disincentives for opening buprenorphine treatment programs, and raise the costs at centers that choose to remain open.
