It's really more about wanting to move on. I think back and I should have just jumped off the oxy and paid the piper and be done. The only reason why I think this was a better way was that it got me to confess my addiction to my wife. She had no idea and I could have kept it secret, blamed WD on flu or something and moved on. But I know I would have relapsed if I did that and nobody would have known otherwise. Confessing to my wife was a MAJOR part of my recovery. I told her everything...where and how I got the drugs (all online BTW, never in person). Telling her how, what, when, and why enables her to know what to look for...if I was relapsing she'd know it.

I can never relapse now......not without her knowing...this is my motivation.

I am ready to take my life back and thanks to Suboxone this will happen. Now I just need to taper this out of my body and take the next step in my life.

I truly hope that once you taper off, you never pick up an opiate again! But please, given the statistics, have a solid recovery plan in place before you taper off. It's not usually enough to rely on the love of a person to keep you from relapsing. You can't think that your addiction is gone because you have used bupe and succeeded in tapering off of it. Your brain has been permanently changed in a way that primes you for relapse. I'm glad you've made progress with your taper Wilson, just please don't forget about the fact that you need to have a recovery plan in place. Thanks for the update!

Amy
