My insurance UHC will not cover Subutex. I will have to pay out of pocket. I am really shocked. I can't believe all the other junk they cover but this they wont...so frustrating. $100 for 2mg pills

Can you talk to someone at your insurance company to ask if Suboxone is covered or not? If Subutex isn't, Suboxone may not be either, but it's worth the phone call.

They may just need an authorization form from your doctor. Ask them what they do cover as far as Buprenorphine is concerned.

The good news is that you are only taking a small amount and it won't total up to that much every month.

Good luck finding some answers,

rule

What did you mean when you wrote "100$ for 2mg pills"? To help cut down on cost big time request your doctor prescribe you the 8mg subutex and cut your pills down to the right dose, its a little annoying having to split them up but you will save up to 50% of the cost. With goodrx.coms coupon I fill my 45 8mg generic subutex tablets for 114$ at walmart, I have to pay full cash price out of pocket too. So with my dose of 3-3.5mgs a day I pay est. like 1.25$ a day on my dose which is not bad at all.

My pharmacy told me that you aren't allowed to pay out of pocket for meds if you have health insurance, (I have UHC too), and that you could lose your insurance coverage altogether if they let you!
