Hi I just found this site and it seems really what I'm looking for. I got cancer at a very young age, my baby girl was only 2. My doctors said about 2 wks was what I had left. That was in 2004. Thank God I'm cancer free now. But for two years I had chemo and was on morphine, Percocet, and even methadone for nearly 3 yrs. when my pain meds were taken from me I went in withdrawal bad and seemed like it would never end. I decided to get pain meds from dealers. It was a nitemare until I found suboxone. Many ppl still see me as a drug addict but my life has improved so much I think nothing of their opinion. Hope to get to know some fellow friends taking suboxone.

Glad you found us.... this IS the place to know, if your on suboxone........I've learned SO VERY MUCH from this
site and the links it has, etc....
there really IS a lot to learn, too.

Im happy you got off the crazy train, or the opiate merry-go-round....... I remember being just SO DESPERATE to stop
circling the DRAIN..............

OH,and that's SO AWESOME your cancer-free now!!!!!
cancer's about the scariest thing, to MY family,,,
my mom's had it, my grandma's a three time survivor, and all her brothers and sisters died from some form
of cancer (8 total)
she has two sisters left, she was one of ten kids.....
scary stuff, NO DOUBT.....

It sucks, there is such a "stigma'' around opiate replacement,
I understand SOME of it,becuz SOME people do abuse it..... but obviously not "all of us"

anyways, ONE THING that helped me sooo much,,,
was going to this site
click on "buprenorphine eduacation"
and you can actually ORDER a FREE packet of brochures with pictures and stuff, EXPLAINING how bupe works, how it blocks other opiates/aka saves lives, ETC ETC ETC
so the first few months I was on suboxone, I gave my family copies of the literature
and it really opened thier eyes, to a whole other "side" of addiction........
not to mention my husband, too.
NO, it didn't work for ALL of them, and NO not everything's a picnic, but it did HELP

So, there's an idea, if you think that would help
Other than that, I can give you the link to Dr. J's videos on youtube, there's 19
on different topics, and it would really be in your best interest to at least watch the one ,,,
"how suboxone works"

That's about all I have for ya for now.
if you have ANY questions, don't hesitate to ask,
Im sure you'll find a LOT of support here, we are almost like our own BIG, extended family 8)

anyone can give up,
its the easiest thing in the world to do, but to
hold it together, when everyone would understand if you fell apart

[font=Comic Sans MS]Hello there!! Congratulations to you for kicking cancers ass! Way to go!

I just wanted to say hello and welcome you to the forum. Amber pretty much covered
everything that I can think of as far as what this site has to offer by way of information.
It really is a very very supportive family of members that we have here. If that's what you are
looking for...than look no further!

If you have any other questions or just need to talk, or vent....feel free to do that here. Often times
our families don't understand some of the things that we go through, and that is where we can come
in. If you need to talk to people who understand how you are feeling, or what you are going through,
we are here to listen and give support or advice if you need it.

Ok, well that's all for now. Again, welcome to the forum, and I hope to keep seeing you around the forum!
