Driving along, ALL the kids in the truck with me (wife was at work or I would've NEVER been able to snap a picture without her saying "Jonathan, LET'S GO NOW..LEAVE IT ALONE BEFORE YOU GET BIT!!! COME ON GET IN THE TRUCK!!"....

I had my two boys, my two daughters, and my niece all with me in the Expedition and was heading to town, which is about 15 minutes from the house....this picture was on the road that I live on, but at the opposite end of it from my house. It's about 6 miles long, so this was right at 5 miles from the house...

I stopped, backed up in the middle of the road, and got out...and STOOD RIGHT OVER IT!

By the way, this is a rattlesnake. It's a baby, as the second picture really shows the button + rattle VERY well. he only had 1 rattle, so probably this year/last years baby. Thing about it, MOM was SOMEWHERE!!

(edit) this is called a "Timber rattlensake", or a Canebrake

Here's a large version..looks like the EXACT same snake, just bigger...

VERY COOL! I've always been the strange woman who loves snakes. My husband would be saying all the same shit your wife would have said to you. Thanks for sharing.
