New here so this is my first post. I had in my past, been addicted to everything opiate. You name it, I took it. I am 51 yrs old and look 71. Do I have regret? You had better believe it! Anyhow, back to the story. Oxycontin was my drug of choice (IV of course). After reformulation and basically ruining that medicine, I turned to methadone. Liquid at first 245mg daily. It literally almost killed me. Then went to the good ole "Wafers", which are no longer prescribed, and now am down to just two 10mg methadone hci tabs a day. I guess it's mental. I don't know. What I do know is that I will never, ever become slave to a narcotic again. The low dose of methadone treats my injuries (which are too many to list) and quelches that desire to "pill chase".
So, what's the problem then, huh? Doctors here in NC are taking methadone out of their programs and prescribing Opana 30mg instead. Bad news there. Fearful of Sub. What do I do?

I don't know what to tell you to do. I can tell you what i did (i am around your age), i went to a doctor & got on a low dose of suboxone. It's a really strange drug. It took me at least a week to get stabilized on it & a month to get used to it. That is not the norm but that was my experience.

After 2 months on sub i feel good, normal, stable, not as anxious & i have been able to lower my BP medicine. I feel human again.

My DOC was oxycodone/oxycontin & I have health issues that cause some serious pain. The sub has taken care of the pain & I am starting to clean up the mess i made while in active use. It was a hard decision to make but i am glad i did it.

Just my experience..
