Hi, it's Queenie,

Well the moment I didn't want tot think about, is here.

I am in the hospital for an amputation of the right leg. I went into very bad pain last week. Called my Sub Doctor & my Vascular doctor. My Sub Doctor told me to stop the Subs immediately and gave me an rx for Percodan 7.5/525. My pain was relieved and my V asular Surgeon saw me & decided to admit me into the hospital.

We have discussed pain and I am praying things go he way they promised. Which is basically a truckload of meds. I don't know when the surgery will be. I am undergoing tests to see how much of the leg should be eliminated. As of now I have been off the Subs 8 days, I am on a Dilaudid drip giving me 1 mg. of Dilaudid every 45 minutes, I am getting 200 mgs. of Neurontin daily. am comfortable pain wise. Sometimes I get breakthrough pain and it is excrciatuing. But the docror has orders to immediately give me Dilaudid. Tomorrow we discuss post-surgery pain control. I plan on returning to subs ASAP!.

Well, I will let you all know how the pain goes. Think positive thoughts for me. Hope this is not another horror story.

Love, Queenie

Queenie, I am so sorry you are now facing this! I was hoping you were going to be able to avoid it. It sounds like you have a good doctor, and if I'm not mistaken isn't this the hospital where you said they have a good understanding of Sub treatment? That in itself is a huge advantage over what some folks on this forum have dealt with in hospitals.

I'm glad they're keeping you out of as much pain as possible. Do you have any outside support, or someone caring for your daughter? Feel free to PM me any time of you need to talk.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers,
Lilly

I'm so sorry to hear that your fears have come to fruition.. I know you've been worried about this for quite some time. It does indeed sound like you have great doctors who are properly addressing your pain - possibly with the exception of breakthrough pain. Hang in there...I know it doesn't feel like it, but you will get through this. Take care and be well.
