I feel like I'm talking to myself... lol anyway my thread is really long so I'm sure no one is interested in reading through it! Well I spent another couple hours yesterday on the phone with the doctors office and insurance company. Hopefully getting closer, but no answer yet. The lady at the insurance company said if it does go through my copayment would be $70. Not too bad I guess, I was hoping it would be less but what can ya do, ya know? Then last night I remembered that the suboxone website has that $50 coupon you can print and use every month to offset the copay!!! So hopefully that works out, paying $20 a month would be amazing!! Well anyway, hope you're all doing well! Oh and I need to get into some sort of group meetings or therapy (the receptionist at my docs office said the insurance would require it) so I found the app called meeting finder awhile back and just looked at it today. It shows two NA groups that have a meeting tonight. But underneath it says closed meeting, anyone know what that means? Can you just show up or do you call? I feel like these are stupid questions but I've never been to one, and have no idea how it works! Any advice would be appreciated!!

Hi Emmy,
Sorry, here i am.
I have no ins and pay cash so nnot up to date on coverages. Good luck with that. It sounds good though. And ya the 50 dollar off card works great..

Ok, NA meetings. Well you just show up. No calling needed. There are opened meetingscand closed meetings. Open means ANYONE may attend. A closed meeting is for addicts only.
Your an addict so you are IN..lol

Do not talk about your treatment on sub to the group or to a person as a newcomer. You may find someone later who you can talk to about sub later on, but na is NOT interested in Sub treatment. That's my short story on sub and NA. If you want more of my opinion on it just ask..
I was there for 3 1/2 years. ..
Meetings are ok, there will be others to talk with about addiction.

I was a member for 3 1/2 years.

Razor...

Well thats wonderful news. Glad it has worked out for you.

NA can be a good source for support and to support others. Geting out of ones own head and seeing how other addicts work a program. Most of all it can help lose the feeling of isolation we all feel at times..
Worth a check...razor

Hey Steve, so did you taper down or you just stopped them? What wasn't working for you, if you don't mind me asking? Are you finding other ways to stay clean? Glad things are going well for you! So nice to hear from you!!

I jumped from 8mg. I've been doing ok, it's been 12 days now and I'm starting to feel myself again. I really don't suggest doing it yourself. Suboxone works awesome with the cravings. I just got tired of feeling blah and not being excited about anything ever....and to be honest with you, I was still over using it and running out early every month, so this month I decided I'm sick of depending on something I just have to do it....I'm scared of what may come but I just have to be strong....I wish you the best on your recovery Emmy. I'll be back here every once in while :). I hope all is well with you.

Yea I get what you mean. I was tapered to 6mg but the last few days I've been taking 8mg again. I was struggling with the 6mg. And I'm taking more soma then I should. It's hard. I've been feeling really depressed lately and lacking any motivation. I'm at 7 months and feeling like I haven't accomplished anything. I'm fighting my old habits. Anyway, I tried to go to a meeting and no one was there so I guess I need to try somewhere else. Are you feeling withdrawal jumping from 8mg? Thanks for posting!!!

man, I can't believe it's been over a month since I've posted. Sorry for the delay. Life's stresses sometimes make us forget things. Yeah I had withdrawals that lasted a little while. I wish subs didn't make me feel so blah or I'd get back on them. I have tendencies still and struggle. I hope all is going ok with you and yours and hope you had a great Christmas. Have a very happy New Years Emmy and Rex!

Hmm it's been a few months. Not much has changed sub wise, but I thought I'd give a little update. First, it's crazy to think I'm coming up on one year since I started Suboxone! I've been seeing a psychologist who thinks I'm over medicated. I don't know if I had posted before about the breathing problems I was having, my sub doc decided it was cold weather induced asthma. The psychologist thought it had more to do with the combination of meds I was taking. So I stopped the ambien, and only take the gabapentin at night, and haven't had any breathing issues since. The sort of interesting thing was the psychologist tried getting me to say the name of my sub doctor. After she said so many times how over medicated I was, I didn't feel right giving his name. I'm not sure what she could have done with it, (she said nothing, but I wasn't so sure) otherwise why would she ask multiple times after I said I'd prefer not to say? Seemed weird. She couldn't seem to understand the whole paying cash for the sub visit. I think that's pretty common. Anyway, I need to work on getting off the klonipin and Soma, especially after the breathing problems, and feeling tired and blah most days. Anyway, hopefully you are all doing well!! :)

Hi Emmy

So good to see your post this morning! I also see a psychologist, he is an addiction specialist and really helps me. I think that was pretty good that yours suspected you were over medicated. It's not unusual for her to ask your sub doc's name. My therapist talks with my sub doc with my consent (he doesn't share what i say just why i may need the same dose or that i am doing well, general info). Just wanted you to know why she may be asking.

I am really glad you updated us! Hopefully you post more often :D

Hi Emmy!

How great to get an update from you!

It sounds like you may be suspicious that your psychiatrist will try to turn in your sub doctor if she gets the name. Of course, being on klonopin, Ambien, sub, and Soma is quite a heavy load and I'm glad she stopped the culprit of your breathing difficulties. Do you receive the klonopin and Soma prescriptions from your psychiatrist too? Many doctors will not prescribe sub and a benzo together. Adding Soma to that combo does seem like it could be too much, but I'm not a doctor, obviously.

Soma is usually for back pain, right? Are you dealing with chronic pain? If so are you dosing 4 times a day with your sub? How much sub are you on?

I don't mean to sound like a skeptic and I'm sure you're getting the multiple prescriptions for a reason. I certainly don't want to chase you away! :) It is so good to hear from you!

Amy

Hey Emmy, glad to see you back. I've checked on here a few times to see how you were doing. that's weird you have been having issues with your asthma. I have been struggling too with it this year. This has been the worst year I've ever had with it. I hope everything else is going ok for you. it's been 4 months and 7 days since I've last taken subs. It's been a tough road. I'm glad to see you still on them! Have a good weekend!

Hey guys! Thanks for the replies!! Sorry I didn't see them and respond sooner.
Amy- yes it was definitely not a good combination, but was all prescribed by my sub doctor. He did tell me a few times that the combination of benzos and subs would need to be dialed back at some point, but I never had any clue, seriously, that it was causing the breathing issues. I would have never knowingly done that to myself, it is not a good feeling to struggle to breathe! The psychologist was surprised that my sub doctor never made the connection when I told him about the breathing issues, a few times actually because he's the only doctor I see. Anyway, I'm working on cutting back the klonipin now. I'm going down a half milligram each month and so I'll be off them in three months. The ambien I stopped taking the day I found out it could be causing the issues. The soma I take for chronic pain, I haven't cut back on that yet. As for the subs, I take 8mg once a day. I'd like to cut back on the subs eventually too.

Hey guys, just a quick update... I'm down to 6mg/day on subs and 1mg/day klonipin. So just going down two mgs on the subs made a HUGE difference, energy wise! It's crazy to think what my normal was before, which was tired most of the day, usually not getting to any of the things on my to do list. Now I'm not only tackling my to-do list everyday, I'm also going to the gym almost every day!! Hoping to go down another 2mgs soon! I've been attending counseling which has been a bit rough lol meaning who the hell enjoys finding out their flaws? And work on fixing them??? Eeek it's a whole new world not "using" to escape crappy feelings, and actually intentionally bringing on these feelings!! (I'm used to using, obviously, but also avoidance was my 2nd escape) I hope you're all doing well, it's been awhile! :) Steve? How are you doing with your recovery? Anyone else that can update on how they're doing?

I'm so glad that you're being brave enough to work on negative feelings! This is definitely the time to do it! I remember that I felt better on sub when I got to 6 mg too. It's not a bad idea to do a little bit of tapering if you have side effects to see if it makes a difference. It's better if you are communicating this with your doctor, but ultimately it depends on what kind of doctor you have. If she's a control freak, for example, she might be upset if she's not consulted first. You know what I'm saying.

Hey Amy, I'm thinking of maybe tapering another 2mgs, so I'd be taking 4mg/Day. I've just been feeling run down the last week or so and just thinking I may not need so much sub anymore. So as for my doctor, he doesn't really care too much what I do. He's a really nice guy but doesn't really worry, he just writes for what I ask, for the most part. What do you think of me possibly going down to 4mgs? It's been a month now I think that I've been down to 6mg.

It definitely won't hurt to try it! :) If it doesn't work out for you, just go back to 6mg. Let your doctor know what you're doing, especially since he's so laid back, and let him know how it works out.

Amy
