I took a drug test last Friday, and I'm super scared they tested for Bup. I've literally been stressing. The test is going to a lab.... It's a pre employment drug screen..... What are the chances they will test for it??? I know it is in my system, and not legally.... I literalllly can't stop freaking and researching... There is no guarantee I will pass is there? Like I can't ease my mind. I researched how long it takes to get a negative result and it's typically 24hrs..... Aghhhhhhhh please help. I need support.

I'm sorry, but the only way to make you feel better would be to lie to you. I will say that MOST employers do not test for buprenorphine. But that number has been increasing over the past year. I'd guess that maybe 10% of employers in the Midwest test for it. I am med director for a couple treatment programs, and I choose the substances that we will test for... and we added buprenorphine to the tests in the past year. My impression is that most employers still view buprenorphine as a 'treatment medication', i.e. none of their business.... or they've never heard of buprenorphine.

If it makes you feel better, the odds are in your favor. And maybe even if they do the test, the employer will have an understanding of buprenorphine, know that you aren't impaired, and give you the chance to prove yourself.

I realize that the second half of that sentence is way-too-much to ask for. But we can hope!

How did the test go??? Did you pass it? Did you get the job?

We're here to help but sometimes it's a little frustrating when we read about your kind of situation , but we don't hear back!
