I've read somewhere on another forum that the Subutex (the pill without the Naloxone) costs more than the Suboxone itself. Is this true?

I have great insurance coverage, so the money is not an issue--I was just curious. Well, actually, my mom brought this up when she asked me why the one that didn't have the Naloxone in it might cost more. I told her I wasn't sure, and wasn't sure if I was right to begin with.

Thanks, you guys!

Hi bunny -

Yes, Subutex is the med without the naloxone in it. It comes in a name brand as well as generic. It's the name brand Subutex that is more expensive than suboxone. But the generic version is obviously cheaper. As long as your doctor does not write the prescription for "Subutex" and "DAW" (dispense as written), then the pharmacy can fill it with the generic.

I hope this answers your question. :)
