I have always thought that propoxyphene was useless. From what
I have read the main reason they removed it is because some
of the metabolites namely nor-propoxyphene cause cardiac
problems.

Has anyone had bad experiences or side effects from Darvon
Darvocet, Darvon N, or Darvon compound? I have. I of
course was taking 6 pills in the morning. I started getting
out of breath and my heart rate went up to 180beats per min.
I finally pulled out of it but after that I was always weary
to take propoxyphene.

edit: I did a little more research and it seems that maybe this
it still up for debate...? anyone else heard anything? Is the
Doc in the house?

Wow, what a coincidence! I just wrote a post here on the board about Davocet a few days ago. It was regarding someone who said they took it for pain and didn't get any relief. This drug has long been regarded as useless for killing pain. The thing is, and I hate to have to even say this, but some doctors prescribed it as a way to look like they were addressing a patient's pain and have rather low risk of addiction. As one of only a very few schedule IV pain medications available, it not only sucks at killing pain but also does not do much in the way of getting the user "high" and therefore has a much lower chance of addiction. I actually can't wait to go see my dentist! He and I had a "discussion" about how useless Davocet is even though he swears by it and thinks it works so well. I can't wait to ask him "So, what do you think of Davocet now?"

Goodbye and good riddens. It should not have taken this long. Why keep a drug around that not only doesn't work but also harms people? This should have happened many years ago - like it did in Europe!

Wow.. This stuff was always crap. I remember my poor mom had lung cancer with a baseball sized tumor and the dickhead doctor gave her darvocet, which did nothing. Its a horrible feeling watching her rolling in pain and at the time I was on oxycodone.
