Good day, all;
Well, as expected (sadly), I am back to dosing daily at my drug store. Even though I've had three successful, continuous years with the program, because I was out-of -province working for a few months, they are treating me like a new patient. I'd kill for my own doc to be able to write a scrip for me, but nooooo; I have to pick up my 8mg every day at the pharmacy until I've passed three negative random drug tests - about three months. Only then will they let me pick up a week at a time. This is the biggest annoyance with suboxone in this province. I wish they knew that some of us are committed to our recovery and don't want or need our hand held continuously through this process. But, persevere I will...
Wishing success to all, Kelly

That sounds super annoying, Kelly! I hate any stringent rule that doesn't have an exception for special circumstances. Forgive my ignorance, but you live in a Canadian province, yes? Do other provinces have different rules? I'm happy that, so far, there aren't any states with rules about how doctors prescribe suboxone. I think Australia is the only other place that requires daily pharmacy visits for suboxone.

Good luck, Kelly.

Amy

I agree, a total pain in the ass. I know when I started 5 years ago I picked up my first weeks worth and handed them to my doc. After that I was picking up 3-4 weeks worth at a time once I was stable. I think the rules have changed in this Country since then.

So I guess you stopped for a few months? How did that go.

The rules for Suboxone are all about the stigma society has on addicts. Most people who don't know any better think we can't hold a job and are weak minded.
Anyway, before you know it you get back to your usual routine.

Good luck to you
