The most important thing is to stay 'caught up' with it. The longer stool is in the colon, the drier and harder it gets... so you want to take something every day, like a stool softener. Make sure you stay well hydrated. Avoid other constipating meds-- such as Benadryl and older antidepressants.

Consider Sennokot, or senna tea (in natural food stores)-- people drink then at night to cause a BM in the morning. Add fiber....

Try miralax. Works wonders. It doesn't make you rush to the bathroom or anything but in the next day or two it gives you a normal BM. Then another dose after that and you're back on track for awhile. I used it when I had constipation from so many oxys.

OMG Years ago when I was taking oxycontin (crushed then orally), I took NO stool softener! What a fool I was. I suffered terribly during that time. We're talking 1 horribly painful BM every two weeks. Sorry if it's too much information...but I did suffer.

Like you, I'm now on Suboxone. But this time I took someone's advice and started taking stool softener. Like a previous poster said, you need to stay caught up wit it. Which means, taking a stool softener every day. I use a store branded product called Docusate Sodium 100mg capsules bid (twice a day). They really have really helped 'get things moving"! If you can find them (or have a doc prescribe them) I'm sure you'll benefit greatly. It'll take 2 or 3 days for them to start working, but when they do, you'll wonder how you got along without them.

Best

Is there a specific time I should wait to take the softer? Such as hour before or after the suboxone?
