I'm not sure where to post this...Sorry if it's in the wrong place.

I am starting a new job-search. I have noticed many places have a mandatory Drug-Test. No problem but will Suboxone show up on a blood/urine test? I am very apprehensive to say to a potential new employer that I am taking Suboxone. I have mixed feelings on who to tell and when. Anyone else???

Thanks for any help!

My understanding is that sub will not show up on a regular opiate screen. It has to be specifically tested for.
Most employers are looking for illegal drugs.
If someone knows something different, I hope they will post.

This is just what I've heard so please don't take it as gospel. It does not show up in regular drug screenings at this point. I do know they have developed a test for it. Its pretty new and doubt it will be used anytime soon in the workplace. My feelings on it, is I hope not. I have seen too many people move on to good productive lives, and I think it would be a shame to put a stigma on people that are working hard to get their lives back together,

Thank you for your replies. I am feeling that I can move on from what was a dead-end job and be such a more productive part of society thanks to Suboxone helping me clean up my act. I do believe employers are looking for "illegal"drugs but never "assume" right? I do hope if Suboxone is ever detected in blood work we would not be discriminated against. I will try to remain optimistic.

I agree with you 100%. I don't know how the Sub doc feels, but I have a feeling he agrees with you and all who responded to you. JMO Good Luck and God Bless
