I use this website as a research and treatment resource. When I attempt to visit on my cell phone using the wireless phones 4g data network I get sent to a page stating that I am banned from the forum. The reason for the ban is stated as arguing with an admin(?). Befor this evening I have not had an account. I am able to view the forum from my phone via my home wifi network. Is this a known bug? Is there a fix?

Sometimes we have to ban an entire IP address. So you share an IP address with someone who has been banned. I will try to fix this for you and I'll let you know the results as soon as I can. Sound good? Sorry for your inconvenience

Amy

Thank you Amy. Please inform me if any additional information is needed. I read posts via my wireless network while commuting to work. Subox Forum is an excellent tool for patients in replacement therapy.

I appreciate your quick correspondence.

You know what would really help me is if I had your location. We have a long list of banned IP addresses.

Just PM me about your location please.

Thanks

Amy

It's hard to ban someone on mobile networks... Or most mobile networks, because, for example, Sprint resolves to Kansas, where the headquarters is located. Even though I'm in Alabama, if I use Sprint tablet to peruse the forum, it'll show an IP based in Kansas. All might not do this, but lots of them do. Even though Sprint has MSC's in all the metro / large cities, they all resolve to Sprint's backbone in overland park, Kansas.

Exactly, Jonathan. IP addresses used to be helpful here as diagnostic tools. (Think Karen/Ballplayer) But not anymore. Good to see you, Jonathan! I miss you when you don't post!

Hopefully the banned i.p. addresses won't be an issue anymore. I have some concerns that we will be flooded by spam from the Ukraine... like we used to be a few years ago. I don't know if the allocation of addresses changed, but we used to be able to block off geographic regions that had few forum readers, and a high density of spammers. Now, it seems like we have more 'legitimate' forum users from the i.p. addresses that we used to ban...

We'll have to wait and see what happens I guess...
