I made the decision to start suboxone about 3 weeks ago. I finally found a Dr that would treat me and that took my insurance. That took about a week. Then I had to go in for a conference appointment. I was then accepted and told that I needed a physical. After the physical I needed to have my induction appointment scheduled on the following Monday because they needed to monitor me for the first week. This consisted of having appointments scheduled 3 days in a row. I had to fill a prescription and bring it with me to all visits. After the 3 appointments in a row, I was told to come back the following Monday. I was given another prescription to take home for the remainder of the week. What I’m trying to say is this. I thought I could run out of perc’s and start the Subs rite away. NOT. After I found out what I needed to do as far as when this new drug would be prescribed, I ended up having to go back to my family Dr and get a new script of percocet so I wouldn’t go into withdrawal. These providers make thighs tough. Or maybe by law they have to do it that way. As an active user, It would have been so easy for me to say screw this! But for some strange reason, I didn’t. I’m glad I was able to make that decision.
I have some side effects that I don‘t enjoy but let me tell ya, It‘s well worth it. I can deal with side effects. I have no desire to use anything now and for me, that’s a major change for the best..

Hi grb and welcome! I think you'll find this forum full of supportive people.
I'm so glad to hear you started your recovery with suboxone and that you're happy with it. Sorry you had a little bit of a hiccup along the way, but it sounds like it worked out in the end. If I understand correctly, you had to get more perc's so you weren't in withdrawals for two weeks before starting? Or did I misunderstand? Some of the initial side effects will wear off, others like constipation might last longer.

We'd love to hear more about you, when you're comfortable telling your story.

Again, welcome!
