Been opiate free almost two yrs, but still over take my Rx

It's sooo frustrating!! Like it's still the "drugseeker" that's still inside me, I'll over take just to get a high even though I know it'll level out anyway...I've been on Suboxone 8mg strips over 2 years now, started at 2x a day/60 a month now down to half a day/15 a month...I think the side effects of taking adderall also encourages me to use more sub as well just from the jitterness/tenseness that stimulants cause...thank god I at least have a doctor who understands and will probably advocate my increasing my dose back up to one a day...I want to avoid that at all costs, I've even gone so far as to leave my medication with a family member to dispense to me but needless to say by the end of the weekend I'll probably be in w/d, waiting out my appointment on Wednesday, though maybe I can move it up...and I hope and pray I can just get over this terrible pattern...finish my tapering and get over this part of my life!! btw this is my first post too, I'm an out of state student from Florida in Pennsylvania and I'm really quite shy, especially about this, so I'm glad to at least have this as a forrum and hopefully make some new sober friends :)

Hi Longing,

You aren't alone in your struggles with this. I think most of us have gone through a time when we used a bit more than we were supposed to. You mentioned that your doctor would probably be ok with you increasing your dose. I would say that sounds like a good idea. You are taking it anyway, at least this way you won't run out. It sounds like you aren't quite ready to be tapering. You really need to be in a good place with your addiction and taking your prescription properly before you start a taper if you are going to be successful. Sorry, I know it's frustrating and you want to be done with it. But, you also want to succeed right? Just slow down and get stable, then you can resume your taper.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum!
