guys can someone else relate to sleep problems and what ya take or do for them. about 5 months ago i took a weight lifting supplement that had insomnia as a side effect. when i started having problems sleeping i discontinued it. but the problem now is my anxiety when i don't fall asleep right away or wake up from a dream. restless nights are becoming a pain in my life!!!! my phy. dr. gave me ambien and that worked for a short time but now i am determined to go another route. i have an appt. with him fri sept 9 and i am going to discuss the possible non narcotic meds for anxiety.(if there is any) i want to add i take subutex 8-10mgs a day in the 2mg tablet form. i have tried valerian root, meltatonin, warm milk, and other otc and nothing is really helping. it doesn't matter how tired or sleepy i am before i hit the bed. this has been the biggest problem for me since getting help in 07 and i haven't touched any optiates since so my treatment has been solid; only because of the support from my wife, a beautiful daughter, and a great understanding dr. thanks for any help and wish all of ya the best in your recovery.

Hi clean -

I've had sleep problems for years. I take Trazodone and I'm pretty sure several others on this forum take the same thing. It's an old antidepressant that almost exclusively used these days off-label as a sleep med. It's not addictive like Ambien and those types of sleep aids are. I have found it to work excellent for me. It does give a bit of a "morning after" hangover - but that only lasts the first few days and if one gives it time to fade, it will subside. I haven't felt that hangover feeling since the first week I started taking it - years ago.

I hope this helps you. Or at least consider it just my experience with sleep aids. I hope you find something that works for you soon.
