I had a painful post surgery for my cervical fusion because I told the PA that assist in the surgery, rather than the Doctor. My sub doc had to tear the PA a new on on the phone to get proper meds after surgery. I was in so much pain immediately after surgery, they had to give me Valium to calm me.

It is very very importaint you tell the anistesiologist about your supoxone prior to surgery. Remember tell him easy on the benzos!

Hi Tndb and thanks for sharing your experience with us. Often before people have surgery, we direct them to this thread with an excellent NIH article in it:

http://suboxforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=1812

NIH is the National Institute for Health and is a very reputable source. The article discusses the several ways to treat acute pain in suboxone and methadone patients. We always encourage each other to not only read the article themselves, but to print out extra copies for anesesiologists and surgeons (and sub doctors as well).

I hope if you need surgery again it goes better.
