OK...this is for my brother who called me today and said he had relapsed on Heroin and went to a Dr today and got a 65.00 Vivitrol shot. I looked it up but was wondering is there is withdrawal when it wears off? I am almost going into my 6th day of Sub withdrawal and they advertise Vivitrol for THAT. I mean...crap...when does it end and you just gotta suck it up and go through it, like I am now. What was your experience with Vivitrol, if any. My bro is kinda uninformed and its what the Dr recommended so he went with it. Hes also 28 and was hospitalized 5 months ago with 2 pulmonary embolisms! I worry about him and he returned to smoking. So...what is this stuff, honestly? Thanks!

Vivitrol is a once a month injection that has naltrexone in it.
Neltrexone blocks opioids at the mu receptor. This includes all opiates.
Oxy herion,methadone,whatever.

People on this type of therapy are pervented from getting high.

Also it is givin to alcoholics as treatment.

Weather it works well for cravings is questionable. Some say yes, others no..ech person is different.
So far it has become postive treatment for some..

And no, ive never bn on this med..

Hope this helps....

Razor.

As far as I know there's no withdrawal when it wears off, since it's not an opioid.
