I am tapering down to be completely off before I become pregnant. 8mg to 4mg was a breeze. Now I have to think about going to 2mg and 1mg. I may alternate 4 and 2 for a while. I am so scared, but I don't want to have that added worry during a pregnancy. They are already stressful enough. Anyone ever quit b4 pregnancy?

welcome, this is not my bag so I will pass. Someone will post as I have read many stories of ladies stopping before. You should be able to get down to 2mg fairly easy, after that its all up to your body. Alternating it fine, but I would do 4,4,3.5,4,3,3,4,3,3,3,3.5,3,3,3 until you feel stable on 3 then move down to 2. don't rush it too fast you need at least 4 stable days before you drop again.

Hi fingerscrossed,

I personally don't have experience jumping before a planned pregnancy, but I think it's a good idea only if you are sure you will be able to stay clean throughout pregnancy.

Getting down to 4mg is the easy part. Up until that dose your body is over the ceiling level. Dr. J recently posted on another thread that as for the tolerance level and effects of suboxone you should feel basically the same whether you are taking 16mg, 8mg, or 4mg. After that you are going to get into the real work, and you need to slow your taper down a bit.

For the best chance at feeling decent during the process you should probably start dropping your doses by smaller amounts from here. Something like 1/2 mg each time until you get below 2mg. Then start dropping even smaller amounts...more like 1/4 mg each time. Giving yourself several days between each decrease. Slow and steady is the way to go if you don't want to feel crappy during your taper! Of course, it can be done faster if you are incredibly motivated...but it won't be as easy.

Good luck! I know we have at least a few active members who stopped taking suboxone either before pregnancy or in the very early stages. Maybe one of them will see your thread and comment.
