I finally found a suboxone doctor after months of searching. The thing I'm worried about though is I have been getting subutex from a friend since I ran out of pain pills a while ago. So I don't know if there is even any pain pills in my system. So when they drug test me for the first time will they be looking for sub and see that its in my system or will they just be looking for opiates? Should I just tell the doctor that I started taking the sub when I started withdrawing from the pain pills. Or should I just take a few perks so they are in my system and hope they don't see the sub in my system? If they do see the sub will they refuse to help me? Thank you for any advice

yes they will test for bupe...you need to tell the doc that you've been taking it, if you dont they will see you lied and possibly reject you...when i went to my doc for first time i had been doing the exact same thing you are doing right now...i was honest about it and they accepted me....i wouldnt take a bunch of pain pills because then that may affect your induction...since youve been taking bupe already, you wont have to withdraw before induction, you can take the subutex up until your appointment unless they direct you not to...but i would let them know for sure on the first day you discuss your history with them

Although money is definitely a motivator for some sub docs, it isn't for all of them. It seems harder to find a doctor who isn't mostly motivated by monetary gain, but there are sub doctors out there who do care and are trying to help addicts.

I don't believe there is a sub doctor out there who expects an addict starting sub to be clean of opiates! Therefore, I don't think your sub doctor will be upset or surprised that you test positive for sub either. Like previous posters have said, just be honest with your doctor. They should understand that you've been doing whatever you can to stay out of withdrawal.
